Spring 1

Welcome to Year 3's class page. On here you will find any information you need to know about what we are doing each term.

This term our topic is 'Why are jungles so wet and deserts so dry?'. The class will be investigating the different types of weather and climate changes throughout the UK and Earth. They will also begin to understand why climate affects plants and animals. Alongside, we will be researching about why the Amazon Rainforest is so wet and humid whilst also looking at why Africa is the driest inhabited place on Earth. The children will learn to observe, describe and explain as part of this topic alongside comparing, contrasting, making judements and offer reasoning.

English, we are focusing this term on our spelling within our work. When possible can you ask your children to put their spellings into sentences, this will help them to understand the vocab they are developing and how to construct this word into a sentence that can be later written within their work.

Maths, please can we encourage children to learn their timestables. We have been listening to timestable songs through youtube to help us remember. We encourage the children to learn their timestables by saying:
1 x 4 = ?
2 x 4 = ? etc.

Don't move on to develop another times table until your child is confident with both the multiplication and the division facts.

Don't forget to login into your times table rockstar account:
